Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while local people in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced disruption to water supplies, as stated by municipal leaders.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes struck electrical systems and apartment buildings in Kyiv.
